Video: Point of View of a 911 Dispatcher

The job of a telecommunicator is complex, public safety specific, highly technical, multi-tasking heavy and bears little resemblance to clerical roles. Telecommunicators answer 9-1-1, non-emergency phones, answer police, fire and EMS radio, provide lifesaving instructions and support other first responders, in addition to many other duties. Duties are often performed simultaneously and require critical decision making under significant stress.
Please join the Deer Park Police Department in recognizing the hard work of our telecommunicators during National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week!
