Three of Rayburn’s students placed bigly in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Congratulations!
Three of our Rayburn students have placed in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards!
Jalessy Vela, sophomore, won an Honorable Mention with her collection entitled “Precarious.” Yuliana Cazares, junior, won a Silver Key with her poem entitled “All that I Bear” and an Honorable Mention for her poem “Machismo.” And, finally, Jalissa Reyes, senior, won a Gold Key for her portfolio entitled “A Warrior’s Heart.” Jalissa’s work has advanced to the National Scholastic Writing competition in New York City. Houston is a competitive region with more than 6,000 writing entries, with only a fraction of those being awarded a Gold Key. We are so proud of all of our writers who utilized this creative outlet for their voices to be heard.
