The animal shelter Graduating Class of 2022, Most Spirited, Setsuko.
🎓
At the time, we hadn't read through all of her notes, and we just thought she was a happy, energetic girl who was glad to get a break from her kennel, and was jumping up to tell us all thank you.
But after reading her story, it's easier to understand why she was so grateful for that attention.
She was adopted from us as a puppy. In her photos back then, she was all floppy ears, big white paws and pure puppy innocence. Unfortunately, she was back here a few times as a stray. When you look through all of her photos on record, you can actually see the progression of her growing up.
Now, she's been with us for more than two months, just waiting. And waiting and waiting.
So, when people walk by her kennel, she gets excited and jumps to get their attention. That's the "spirit" we were seeing. She wants, so desperately, to get out. To be loved.
From what we saw and what volunteers & other staff members have said, she is a sweet, loving girl. Sometimes, she can be a little distant at first, but she warms up fast. She loves to go for walks and loves to be with people. She enjoys spending time outside in the play yards.
Setsuko has spent too much time growing up here in the shelter; she deserves more. If you can give her that, she'd love for you to come by. Ask for four-year-old Setsuko (A136922) when you get here.
