On this day in 1805, the viceroy of Mexico was ordered to compile all pertinent data concerning the true boundary between Texas and Louisiana. This is a crucial moment in Texas history, as it established territorial boundaries that still stand today.

Fast forward to 1857, and Camp Wood was established on the east bank of the Nueces River. This site, located about 50 miles northwest of Fort Inge, was important for military purposes as it was used as a base for soldiers.

In 1893, the second town of Amarillo was selected as the seat of Potter County. Amarillo is now a major city in Texas and serves as the economic center for the Texas Panhandle.

Another important moment in Texas history happened in 1933 when the FBI's hunt for Bonnie and Clyde began. The infamous criminals were wanted for interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle, and this marked the start of the FBI's involvement in their pursuit.

In more recent Texas history, in 2016, the Texas Rangers announced they would leave Globe Life Park in Arlington for a new retractable-roof stadium built in Arlington. The new ballpark was approved by voters in November, and has since been a popular destination for baseball fans.

One quote that summarizes the spirit of Texas comes from Robert Rodriguez, who states that "People don't live in Austin to work, they work to live there." Texas is a state full of character, with a diverse population and a fascinating history.
