Precinct 8 Deputy Atluri caught a menace to society Samuel Ezekiel Martinez Jr. last Friday night with the help of spikes and the taser.
SUBJECT ARRESTED AFTER LEADING DEPUTIES ON A PURSUIT
On Friday, April 21, 2023 at approximately 11:51 PM, was traveling eastbound on the S Sam Houston Pkwy E approaching the intersection of Beamer Rd when he observed a dark Chrysler 300 accelerate to a high rate of speed and turn off its headlights.
Deputy Atluri activated his emergency equipment in attempt to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle reached speeds up to 130 MPH and disregarded numerous stop signs and red lights. The suspect vehicle was successfully spiked and came to a stop near the 11100 block of Woodknot Dr. where the suspect continued to flee on foot. Sergeant Toliver gave chase and utilized his Taser to safely subdue him. Deputies apprehended the suspect and retrieved a loaded handgun from his waistband. The suspect was identified as 18 year old Samuel Ezekiel Martinez Jr.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle and Unlawful Carry of Weapon. Martinez was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bonds was set at $5,100 total.
