On Thursday, July 20, 2023 at approximately 8:58 PM, Precinct 8 Deputies with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office responded to assist Webster Police Department with a pursuit. Deputy A. Peters intercepted the pursuit westbound on Bay Area Blvd and ultimately became the lead unit. The suspect vehicle approached the Gulf Freeway and proceeded northbound on the service road. The vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 MPH, making multiple unsafe lane changes and traveling the wrong way. Deputy Peters pursued the vehicle for approximately 25 miles before coming to a stop in the 14400 block of Cullen Blvd.
Responding deputies conducted a felony stop of the vehicle. The driver failed to comply and pulled a juvenile passenger out of the vehicle. The driver proceeded to place the juvenile in a choke hold and position them as a human shield. During the standoff, Deputy Peters was able to position herself behind the suspect and utilize her Taser to safely subdue the suspect. The suspect was apprehended and identified as 35 year old Tenescha Selena Henry.
Deputies conducted an inventory search of the vehicle and located 22 pieces of identifying information. The items included Texas driver’s licenses, Texas security license, Social Security cards, Lone Star EBT card, credit/debit cards and health insurance cards. Further investigation revealed the identifying items were taken without consent and Henry had attempted to use the credit/debit cards.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted felony charges for Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle, Endangering a Child and Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information. Henry was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where her bonds were set at $20,000 total.
