TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FELONY ARREST

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at approximately 2:19 AM, Harris County Precinct 8 Deputy Mitchell was on active patrol on Edgebrook Dr when he observed a purple Dodge Charger with its rear plate not illuminated and the temporary tag to be unreadable. Deputy Mitchell activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1000 block of Edgebrook Dr.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Mitchell detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver was identified as 21 year old Ivan Rosales and all three occupants were directed to step out of the vehicle. Deputy Mitchell and responding units proceeded to conduct a probable cause based search of the vehicle and located a large amount of U.S. currency, 7.4 ounces of marijuana, a handgun and devices used to convert a semi-automatic firearm into fully automatic. The amount of U.S. currency totaled $7,690.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon. Rosales was taken into custody and transported to Precinct 8’s Clear Lake station for processing. Deputy Morgan and K-9 Duke arrived to assist in the investigation and K-9 Duke positively alerted on the contraband. The Asset Forfeiture division was contacted and accepted the seizure of the U.S. Currency. Rosales was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bond was set at $10,000 total.
