MALE ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at approximately 10:27 A.M., Precinct 8 Deputy Mitchell with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office was conducting narcotic interdiction in the 15300 block of the Gulf Freeway and observed a suspicious vehicle parked at a business known for high narcotic activity. A check of the license plate revealed it was reported stolen through the state of Missouri. A further look into the return revealed the license plate did not match the make and model of the vehicle.

Upon a further investigation, Deputy Mitchell obtained a lead on the owner of the vehicle and learned the subject was staying in a motel room at that location. Deputy Mitchell made contact and detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the room and further observed a jar containing marijuana inside the room. Deputy Mitchell identified the owner of the vehicle as 25 year old Vonnell Lavance Brown Jr. Deputy Mitchell conducted a consent based search of the room and recovered 2.4 lbs. of marijuana, 31.3 grams of Xanax and two handguns. A check of both handguns revealed one to be reported stolen in 2015 through Savannah Police Department in Missouri.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted two felony charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. Brown was taken into custody and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center. His bonds were set at $12,500 total.
