PPD taking additional proactive training for active shooter situations that may happen in one of our schools. 🚔
Active shooter situations are always terrifying and tragic, especially if they occur in one of our schools. As such, we wanted to update our community on the steps we are taking to ensure our officers receive the best training and equipment possible to aid in our response to these scenarios. While our personnel have received extensive shooter and active shooter training in the past, they will be attending a mandatory Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Active Shooter course prior to the start of the next school year. We have partnered with the Pasadena Independent School District Police Department, whose officers are also training alongside our personnel. This will allow a unified and coordinated response should there be a threat to any of our schools. In addition, we are purchasing breaching tools, ballistic shields, and emergency medical equipment to further aid our officers and enhance any necessary response.
