Pepperoni has a hard time at the shelter but sweet as watermelon outside. He'd appreciate you getting him before closing time.
It was a slow process. He was scared and, at times, too afraid to walk. But eventually, we got there.
Normally, that’s the point where a dog would perk up and start to explore. But not this sweet guy. He stayed frozen and then followed us to the bench. As we offered him love and encouragement, he tucked his head into us.
Then, of all the spots in the yard to explore and run, he chose to climb up onto the bench and squeeze between us. ❤️
And there, he was happy.
He laid his head on our shoulders and slowly perked up. After a minute, he lifted his head and his tail started to wag. He was giving kisses and enjoying his time. Finally, he was truly happy.
It was hard to take him back into the shelter, and he didn’t want to go. We’d love to see him get right back out — and this time, for good. Because when this sweet boy relaxes and lets himself be happy, he is irresistible.
If you can help with that, please come by and ask to meet two-year-old Pepperoni (A160246).
