July 15, 2022 · A-PASADENA NEWS, CITY, Parks and Recreation

*WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT*

In recognition of Parks and Recreation Month, we are bringing attention to how important it is to rise up and support parks and recreation, because every day, park and recreation professionals rise up for their communities in service of equity, climate-readiness, and overall health and well-being.

Meet the EXCEPTIONAL team from the Youth Recreation Division! The Youth Recreation Division is dedicated to providing fun, challenging, and educational programming for children, ages 5-18. During the school year, the four recreation centers provide a safe after school space for youth to participate in a variety of activities; Arts and Crafts, Sports, Cooking Activities, Field Trips, etc. For the summer, the recreation centers have extended hours and there are two additional fee based summer camps located in Strawberry Park.

Programs at the recreation centers are free, but do require a registration form before participating in programs. During the summer months, free lunch and snack is provided M-F for anyone under the age of 18.

In addition to their own programming at the Recreation Centers, these employees lead, and assist with, many Special Events that go on within the Department and throughout the City --- Have you ever heard of Monster Mash? Or Easter Extravaganza? ...just to name a few! :)

If you see these employees out and about, please HIGH FIVE them for their continued dedication to youth programming and department wide program success! For more information, check out their website: https://www.pasadenatx.gov/574/Recreation-Centers
