Officers Mark Hardin and John "Bubba" Eilers recently retired. Congrats and thanks fellers! 👊🏻
We want to take a moment to recognize Officers Mark Hardin and John "Bubba" Eilers on their recent retirements.
Officer Hardin applied for the Pasadena Police Department in 1984 and was accepted into the department's 38th basic academy. Upon graduating from the academy, Mark worked all three patrol shifts, with the majority of his patrol time spent on evenings and days. In addition to his regular patrol duties, he also worked as an Accident Investigator and Field Training Officer. Mark then transferred to Special Investigations in 1997, where he was responsible for investigating crimes against juveniles. After spending more than 10 years as a detective, Mark chose to once again work patrol where he could continue interacting closely with the community.
Officer Eilers began his career with the Pasadena Police Department on January 20, 1992, when he was selected to attend the 44th basic academy. During his tenure, John has worked all three patrol shifts, was a member of the department's first bike patrol unit, and was a DARE instructor for 14 years. He also worked in the Community Services Divison, where he served as a Crime Prevention Specialist and a Resident Officer in addition to running the Youth Enrichment Services program for 8 years.
During the ceremony, John was also presented with a Community Service award for assisting an elderly victim. John was called to an elderly woman's home when members of Griswold Home Care were unable to reach her. They were forced to pry the door open to reach the individual in peril, which resulted in the locking mechanism being damaged, leaving no way to secure the home. John took it upon himself to purchase and install a new lock at the residence. As is typical, he completed the work and returned to his duties without alerting anyone that he had purchased and installed the lock.
Please join us in congratulating both of them on a great career as we wish them all the best in all their future endeavors.
