The Mercury Capsule Replica is an exact replica of the spacecraft flown by Astronaut L. Gordon Cooper, Jr. in the 1963 mission. It is a full-scale replica of the original capsule, with a tower, and is on indefinite loan to the City of Pasadena. It is displayed in the City of Pasadena's Parks and Recreation Department and is a popular attraction for visitors. The replica serves to commemorate the first successful mission of the U.S. manned space program and to educate the public about the history of space exploration.
