Memorial High Outdoor Education students attended the Houston Safari Club YWCE event in downtown Houston.
Last week, 60 Pasadena Memorial High School Outdoor Education students attended the Houston Safari Club YWCE event in downtown Houston. While there, students had the opportunity to listen to a Texas game warden, taxidermist, gunsmith, wildlife biologist, and a few other speakers that talked about Texas wildlife, hunting opportunities in Texas, and about how hunting and conservation go hand in hand. The closing speaker was Andy Buchanan, a professional hunter from South Africa that has his own TV show called, “This is Africa". He talked with students about how conservation works in Africa and what threatens their system from first hand experience. They were also allowed to walk the exhibit hall floor and speak with outfitters from all over the world. What a great learning experience for these students!
