LPPD Officer forced to shoot at gun-wielding lucky suspect in terror threat case last night.

Earlier this evening, La Porte Police officers were investigating a call for service in the 9600 block of Belfast involving terroristic threats with possible aggravated assault implications. While on scene, the suspect in the case arrived and brandished a firearm. Ignoring the officer's verbal commands, the suspect ultimately pointed the weapon at the investigating officer, who, fearing for his safety, fired his service weapon at the suspect. The suspect was not hit and he immediately surrendered. No injuries are reported and La Porte Police detectives are on scene actively gathering additional information in accordance with departmental policies.
