Little orphan Mabel's doggie date weekend and a tale of new friendships and manners.

June 20, 2023 · Animal Shelter, CITY

Mabel A165117 went on a Doggie Date this weekend and this is what her date had to share: I just wanted to drop a note to tell you about Mabels doggy date weekend with us. She was really well behaved on our ride home. She sat nicely in the truck and was interested in everything. Once we got home, she met with our dogs and it went as expected. She and my 4 year old Mutsky (Renzo) got along immediately, while my 10 year old Sheppard mix (Rainey) was pretty standoffish. Mabel seems to be crate and house trained. She was quite excited when we first got home, and she really liked running around the back yard. Inside the house she calmed down pretty quickly and was very happy to sit in the chair with me and let me scratch her tummy. She was comfortable and quiet when in the crate unless Renzo started barking at noises outside. She spent both nights in the crate without complaint. It took about a day and night before she really started to relax and lay around on her own. When she finally did, it seems like Rainey started to accept her a bit better also. Mabel: Crate and house trained, good with dogs, affectionate, okay on a leash. A little jumpy at first, can be a handful on first meeting but settles down.
