Intoxicated Driver Crashes Into Playground Fence
On Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at approximately 7:30 PM, Precinct 8 Deputy K. Langley was dispatched to a minor crash in the 7300 block of Spencer Hwy. Deputy Langley arrived on scene and observed a one vehicle crash at Olson Park located behind the Kyle Chapman Courthouse Annex. Deputy Langley was advised the vehicle was seen approaching at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then struck the playground fence sending debris into the playground where kids were playing.
Deputy Langley made contact with the driver who was identified as 30 year old Michael Justin Harper. While speaking with Harper, Deputy Langley observed obvious signs of intoxication and proceeded to administer the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Due to Harper’s performance it was determined he was heavily impaired and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted Driving While Intoxicated. Harper was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center for booking. His bond has been set at $100.
