Good to see PPD has been locking up dirty rotten thieves on the down low. You'd be surprised what was recovered in just this post of pics. 👮 = 👍🏻
Last week the Pasadena Police Department's Property Crimes Unit and Patrol Division launched an initiative against organized retail theft. While shoplifting may be seen as a nuisance and a crime of opportunity, our data clearly shows that the most loss incurred by retail stores is due to highly organized criminal activity. These losses are frequently passed down to the consumer and ultimately affect every community member.
These brazen retail thefts have been seen across the country, with a few having occurred in our city. As a department, we have chosen to take a proactive approach by partnering with our local retail stores to reduce the number of thefts in our city. This collaboration with the loss prevention associates from local retailers was well-orchestrated, and we maintained contact with them throughout the day. This week, our detectives focused on the most popular retail zone in our city, the Fairway Plaza area.
The following is a result of this initiative which includes a mother and her juvenile son.
10 total arrests for theft, including 2 juveniles
1 fail to identify (fugitive from justice)
1 outside warrant
We will continue this initiative in the weeks to come, working with retail partners in other areas of our city.
The following images illustrate a small sample of the merchandise that was recovered.
