HABITUAL THEFT OFFENDER ARRESTED A DAY AFTER RELEASED FROM PRISON

On Sunday, November 7, 2021 at approximately 3:57 PM, Precinct 8 Deputy T. Gossett was dispatched to the Walgreens located in the 16500 block of El Camino Real in Clear Lake in regards to a shoplifting call. The suspect was said to have stolen $200 worth of Bluetooth speakers. Deputy Gossett viewed the video footage and recognized the suspect as 39 year old Jason Terrell Dorsey, who is known to Precinct 8 Deputies from previous cases involving Theft and Criminal Trespass.

Later in the shift, Deputy Gossett located Dorsey holding a drink as he walked out of a store in the 16700 block of El Camino Real. Deputies apprehended Dorsey without incident, and while on the scene learned he had walked out of the store without paying for the drink. A check of Dorsey’s information revealed he had open warrants filed by our agency. Dorsey was placed in custody for the warrants and transported to the Precinct 8 Clear Lake station for booking. Upon arrival to the station, Deputy Gossett located 1.5 grams of methamphetamine.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted felony charges for Theft <$2,500 2 or More Convictions and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Dorsey was booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center. His bonds have been set at $25,000 for the theft charge and $25,000 for the narcotics. He was later released on a General Order bond. It was noted that Dorsey was just released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on the previous day.
