From ICBMs to Dobie ROTC: Celebrating the retirement of Texas A&M graduate and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel William "Bill" Malpass. Congratulations!
Happy Retirement to William "Bill" Malpass, LTC USAF
Bill is from Waco and attended Texas A&M University on a scholarship before joining the US Air Force in 1988. Lieutenant Colonel Malpass was an ICBM Launch Control Officer, College ROTC Instructor, Space Operations Officer, Strategic Planner, and Basic Military Training Squadron Commander. His final post in 2008 was as a LOOKING GLASS Airborne Command Post Mission Commander.
Since 2008, Bill has been a Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (High School ROTC) at three different schools: Westbury HS in Houston ISD (2008-2010), Waller HS in Waller ISD (2010-2016), and Dobie HS (2016-present). According to Bill, "I LOVE working for Pasadena ISD, and I know enough to know how great I have it as an employee of this district!"
Bill and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters: Mackenzie Grace, who graduated from TCU in 2020 and lives and works in the DFW Metroplex area, and Matheson Faith, finishing her first year at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. "Kristin and I are primarily empty-nesters, but we have three silly, loveable dogs: Lake, Isla, and Soji. I like the outdoors, including hiking and camping. Much of the reason Kristin and I are retiring to Colorado is because of the agreeable climate and all the beautiful outdoor sights."
Bill also said: "Finally and importantly, I am a devout Christ-follower. I believe it was a rescue mission, and I have been rescued. Ephesians 1:13 is my go-to Bible verse to explain what has happened to me: 'And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.'"
