Everyone needs to get along during the Holidays. TheĀ Snowy Egret and Roseate Spoonbill would like to demonstrate that for you.
The Holiday season is a time for everyone to get along, even these unlikely friends! From around the end of October until sometime in April, alligators do not actively pursue prey but rather minimize their energy output as their metabolism slows. When the water temperature drops into the low 50s F, they enter a lethargic state of brumation but still might climb onto the bank to sunbathe on a warm afternoon. Most of the lower links in the food chain seem to be aware of the schedule and take liberties they would avoid during warmer months. This gator was sharing a bank on Horsepen Bayou with a Snowy Egret and Roseate Spoonbill.
