DPPD tips why you shouldn't announce your travel plans on social media and other home protection tips like a vacation house check.
Don’t announce your upcoming travel plans on social media, and wait to post photos until after you return home. Even if you trust your friends, many times their friends and friends of friends can all see your information, too. You don’t want to give a thief an invitation to your home.
Additional home safety tips before you leave for vacation:
-Lock your doors, including the garage door. Unlocked doors are open invitations to intruders.
-Deer Park Police Department offers Vacation House Check if you will be out of town for at least three days. For more information:

-Put lights on timers to give the impression that someone is home.
