DPPD: Prep for showers increasing tonight.
Showers will be on the increase tonight (Saturday, January 28,2023) with conditions becoming increasingly favorable for heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected with the strongest storms. There is a Marginal and a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall where widespread 1-2+ inches of rain can be expected.
A few thunderstorms could become strong to marginally severe. There is a Marginal Risk of Severe Weather for all Southeast TX.
If strong to severe thunderstorms do develop, hail and an isolated weak tornado will be the main risks. It is important to point out that the risk of severe weather will not be as high as the one we just had last Tuesday, January 24th.
The potential timing for moderate to heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions will be during the morning and afternoon hours.
Lingering light showers will possibly continue into Monday, January 30, 2023.
