DPPD: Make your phone work for you, get your tornado alerts alerting.
ARE YOUR WEATHER ALERTS ON?
The TORNADO EMERGENCY alert is an “exceedingly rare tornado warning issued when there is a severe threat to human life and catastrophic damage from an imminent or ongoing tornado. This tornado warning is reserved for situations when a reliable source confirms a tornado, or there is clear radar evidence of the existence of a damaging tornado…”
The TORNADO EMERGENCY alert is different from a tornado warning (tornado indicated by radar or sighted by spotters) and a tornado watch (conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes).
Check your phone settings to ensure you are receiving warnings in advance of a TORNADO EMERGENCY, as well as the tornado emergency alert.
