DPPD: Celebrated every year on September 12th is National Women in Law Enforcement day.
National Women in Law Enforcement day, celebrated every year on September 12, acknowledges and celebrates the contribution of female police officers who enforce law and order around the country.
Being female in a male dominated workforce presents its own unique challenges. The most difficult of all is overcoming the 24/7 demands that exist in a career serving and protecting a community, while balancing home and family life. Managing those demands can sometimes be the most difficult part of the job, and is more likely than not the reason why females make up only 13% of law enforcement in this country.
Deer Park PD is fortunate that we have thirteen exceptional female officers; 20% of our workforce. They are all individuals with different and various home lives. They are moms, daughters, sisters, wives, friends, movie-goers, bakers, shoppers, travelers, gardeners, readers, animal lovers, surfers, fisherwomen, fitness buffs, musicians and motorcycle riders. Each is a problem solver and brings their own unique skill set to work every day. We celebrate them because of their desire to make a difference in our community, and their strength which allows them to do it all. If you see one of them today, be sure to stop and tell them, thank you.
