Crystal's owners didn't have the courage to ask the Shelter how they could adopt her out. It's a growing problem as the economy grows worse. Can you help by being a short term foster? 🙏🏿
This precious girl was abandoned outside of our shelter. She was left in one of the pens outside of our building, most likely overnight. When we found her, she was terrified and shaking.
This morning, we found another dog in the same pen. This time, it was a mom and her five young puppies. Again, they were left out overnight, this time in the rain. It’s a trend that, unfortunately, we are seeing more and more of.
Please, don’t do this. It’s not safe or fair to the animals. It’s also illegal to abandon animals in the state of Texas.
Our shelter is extremely full and, this afternoon, we’ve had to make the hard decision to go back to doing intakes by appointment only. But there are still other things you can do. Become a short-term foster. We can help with that. Network the dog to friends and family. Ask us for a list of resources.
When we took these pictures of the sweet girl we named Crystal, it was several hours later and she was still trembling.
She’s a sweetheart though, who gently took treats from our hands and leaned into us when we were petting her. She preferred to be touching someone’s leg or foot most of the time, as if she was reassuring herself that we were still there.
She is now up for adoption and would love to find her forever home. If you would like that to be your home, come by and ask to meet one-year-old Crystal (A160621).
