Critical Peak Migration Period runs from September 5 – October 29. Turning out non-essential lights at night from 11 pm to 6 am throughout fall migration helps protect the billions of migratory birds that fly over Texas annually. The Indigo Bunting often migrates during the night, using the stars to navigate. Reducing light pollution helps them and other migratory birds navigate and travel safely along their long migratory paths.
