#ThrowbackThursday Houston is known as the Bayou City, and visitors to the nature center have a great opportunity to experience why that is firsthand. ABNC’s pontoon cruises are the best way to explore with sightings of fish, alligators, wetland birds, and other wildlife on the water's edge. In the 1980s these eco-tours were given from the Hana G Pontoon Boat. Even the late Prince Philip made time in his tight schedule to take a pontoon cruise of Armand Bayou to view ospreys. Many years later, the 32-foot electric Bayou Ranger was used for these cruises and served as a teaching platform. The newer, larger Bayou Ranger II, made possible by the Albemarle Foundation and the William Stamps Farish Fund, is also an electric vessel that can take a maximum of 16 passengers on an adventure through the heart of the nature center along the Armand and Horsepen Bayous. #History #TBT
