Armand Bayou's Wildlife Wednesday is the praying mantis praying for prey to kill and eat.
#WildllifeWednesday As they wait for prey, the praying mantis holds its front legs in an upright position as if folded in prayer. They are the only insects that can swivel their head from side to side without moving the rest of their body. This fascinating insect is thought by some people to be good luck when seen. They are common in Texas, all having green or grayish brown color, well-developed wings, and reaching lengths of 2 to 3 inches. Photo by Susan Millsap #insects #coolinsects
