#WildlifeWednesday Dog-day Cicadas emerge during the dog days of summer. You’ve likely noticed the loud sounds of Cicadas when spending time outside. When they are more boisterous, you even hear them when you’re inside. While other wildlife may feel sluggish as summer temperatures rise, Cicadas become more lively. Cicadas love the heat, the hotter the temperature is the louder they become! Females don’t sing, males make their loud whining buzzy songs to attract females. Photo by Stacy Holcomb
