Armand Bayou's Wildlife Wednesday is of a gator hunting minnows like a rock star along ABNC’s Horsepen Bayou 🐊
#WildlifeWednesday This yearling American Alligator is hunting minnows along ABNC’s Horsepen Bayou. Alligators this size eat mainly minnows and dragonflies. They can grow up to one foot per year until they reach maturity at 6-7 feet long. Afterwards, they continue to grow, but at a much slower rate. This process is called indeterminate growth, and is why some alligators you’ll see at ABNC are upwards of nine feet long. Photo by Gary Seloff
