Armand Bayou's Wild life Wednesday is the smallest American heron a cute bundle of fluff.
#WildlifeWednesday This cute bundle of fluff was one of three least bittern hatchlings seen hidden in the reeds along our Bayou. Just one week out of the egg, and only one day out of the nest. Least bittern are small wading birds, the smallest American heron, and lay four to five eggs at a time. Once hatched, both parents care for and feed their young. Hatchlings will typically spend two weeks in the nest with their parents, but can leave at up to six days old if a threat is detected.
