Armand Bayou is the castle for the glorious Wood Ducks.
Wood ducks prefer water near wooded areas because they nest in tree cavities making ABNC’s bayous and riparian forest the perfect habitat for these beautiful ducks. They were near extinction in the early 20th century, but recovered from overhunting after the Migratory Bird Treaty Act prohibited the hunting of wood ducks nationwide in 1918.
