WANTED SUBJECT LEADS DEPUTY ON PURSUIT
On April 8, 2023 at approximately 12:31 AM, Precinct 8 Deputy Morgan along with his K-9 partner Duke were conducting narcotic interdiction in an area known for high narcotic activity when he observed a gold Mercury sedan with no license plate. Deputy Morgan activated his emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 10800 block of the Gulf Freeway.
Deputy Morgan made contact with the driver and identified him as 36 year old Shawn Keith Allison Jr. While speaking with Allison, Deputy Morgan detected the odor of marijuana and observed a bag containing a white substance in plain view. Deputy Morgan directed Allison to step out of the vehicle. Allison failed to comply and fled at a high rate of speed. Deputy Morgan gave chase and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle disregarded numerous red lights with no regard for the safety of others. The vehicle continued southbound on the Gulf Freeway, took the Fuqua exit and continued traveling northbound on the E Sam Houston Pkwy service road. As the vehicle approached Red Bluff Rd., he began traveling the wrong way on the southbound lanes and onto the Ship Channel Bridge where he nearly struck numerous vehicles. The pursuit finally ended at Greens Rd and the Eastex Freeway where the vehicle was surrounded by responding units. A felony takedown was conducted, and Allison was apprehended. Upon further investigation, it was found that Allison had two open felony warrants through Harris County Sheriff’s Office for Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Convictions and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. The narcotics recovered were submitted as evidence for further testing.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted a felony charge for Evading Arrest/Detention in Vehicle. Allison was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bond was set at $100,000.
